Issey Miyake, one of the founders of the Japanese movement, had already made himself a formidable force on the global fashion scene in the early 1980s when the Japanese movement began to make its mark. A passionate use of materials other than cloth informed his “Body Works” fall 1985 ready-to-wear collection and exhibition.
